Our society partners with the Youth Volunteer Corps to plant, weed, and harvest a garden on the Ag Society land. Together, our members provide leadership and mentorship to the youth. Everyone is welcome to join.

The garden work alternates between Wednesdays and Thursdays from 6–8 pm. As in previous years, the garden supports Art of the Harvest, with produce sold to raise funds for the Airdrie Food Bank. Seasonal vegetables are also harvested and donated directly to the Food Bank as they ripen.

Volunteer activities vary throughout the season. Early sessions focus on planting, followed by watering and weeding through the summer, and harvesting in the fall.

If you’d like to take part, please join us on the following dates:

  • Wednesday, May 20

ART of the Harvest

Held in September, the Art of the Harvest (AOTH) that includes the Old Tyme Harvest and Antique Tractor Pull is the largest event hosted by ADAS. The event includes an old time harvest demonstration, wagon rides, kids’ games, live music, food trucks and a vegetable harvest with all proceeds including excess vegetables being donated to the Airdrie Food Bank.

The Antique Tractor Pull is now in it's fifth year and attracts participants and spectators from all over Southern Alberta. With over 50 competitors and up to 100 tractors from the 1960’s or older this event has become an integral part of our Art of the Harvest Event.

Interested in volunteering? We have a number of available opportunities - please sign up for your preferred shift. This event can only be a success with the help of community volunteers and we appreciate your consideration!

Ranch Hand Competition

Ranch Hand Competition

Our annual Ranch Hand Competition was held Saturday, July 18, 2026 on one of the hottest and humid days of the year. The heat did not deter the participants nor the spectators with an estimated 80 to 90 people enjoying the competition. There was a full slate of 12 teams again this year - 7 Open Teams and 5 Ladies teams. The Simpson Ranch Cougars won the Ladies division once again, but the Open Division was won by a new team from the EZE Ranch. After the event was the awarding of the championship buckles and a delicious dinner with Big T's BBQ.

A huge shoutout to all of our sponsors without whom this event could not happen. This year’s sponsors included:

and Mountain Toys - Polaris

We would also like to thank the many volunteers who helped make this happen:

  • Airdrie Pro Rodeo team for managing the beer tent

  • Announcer and scorekeepers

  • Judges

  • Everyone who set-up/took-down the rodeo grounds

  • The organizers and all those who arranged and coordinated the event.

Finally we would like to thank all those who came out and watched the event in the heat and humidity. This was our largest audience since Covid and we very much appreciated your support.
